Funny that today I read an article at daringfireball about a behavior of the OS X finder which some consider to be an error or bug. Funny because this past Friday I had to spend 4 hours reimporting video which i had mistankingly deleted. Essentially, the OS X finder, unlike the OS 9 finder, will let you replace a folder with a file. I attempted to back-up my Final Cut Pro project file onto the firewire drive where my media for that project were stored in a folder of the same name. I was given a warning dialogue but allowed the copy to happen anyway. My brain protested but it was too late. I had okay’d the transfer because I thought I was overwriting a previous back-up file, not a folder of media.

Now I know.
