Next to this is coverage of climate activists sentenced to jail: Climate activists sentenced to prison for throwing soup on Van
Gogh's 'Sunflowers'

Want to help? Become a climate activist. Make it a part of your daily life. Stop fucking around pretending that it will fix itself or that the broken political process will suddenly fix it counter to the evidence of the past 40 years of not doing so.

Want to help? Start supporting other climate activists via donations to legal.

A lot of people continue to be confused by these art protests because it doesn't seem to relate to fossil fuels. If you are confused it may be because you have not taken the time to fully consider it.

It's about protecting humanity's heritage. It's about prompting the public to consider and debate: what is the common heritage of humanity

The judge from today's sentencing of activists (emphasis mine):

“You two simply had no right to do what you did to Sunflowers, and your arrogance in thinking otherwise deserves the strongest condemnation.

The pair of you came within the thickness of a pane of glass of irreparably damaging or even destroying this priceless treasure, and that must be reflected in the sentences I pass.”

The condemnation in regards to destruction of a priceless treasure should be directed not at these activists but the wealthy 10% of the Global North who value paintings more than the subject of those paintings. I suspect if Van Gogh were alive today he would side with the activists.

The real crime is the high emission lifestyles being led by the public of the nations of the Global North. That's me and you. We are the 10%. We are the ones that fill the skies with jumbo jets, the highways with over-sized SUVS and our homes with plastic shit.

Want to help? Take responsibility for your lifestyle and stop pointing fingers at "those nasty billionaires" and "the corporations". Stop pretending the problem is Taylor Swift and Exxon, giving yourself a break.

Sure as fuck the wealthy contribute far more than their share. Sure as fuck corporations are going to do everything in their power to maximize profit at any cost to the climate or planetary ecosystems.

But listen up, it's you and me and millions of others that add up to the problem. It's us, the wealthiest 10% of the planet that feed capitalism everyday. DO THE FUCKING MATH. Stop thinking "Oh, I'm just one person, I can't do anything." It's not just you. It's all of us doing the wrong thing together. DO THE FUCKING MATH.

Folks, we're all waiting for a broken political system to fix this for us. It won't. Democracy, which we like to pretend we have, is us. WE ARE DEMOCRACY. Democracy is failing because WE ARE FAILING.

I shouldn't have to convince you to care about this. I shouldn't have to convince you to become a climate activist. It's your job to care enough about your survival and the survival of future generations to be such an activist. Citizenship means being an activist. All citizens should be active. And right now we are in a climate emergency.

So, you wanna help? Then fucking help.
