It is the world around you
Advertisements. They are everywhere. It’s not enough that they are now being shown before movies I paid money to see at a theater. I’ve discovered that gas stations now have small lcd screens at the gas pump so as you fill your tank you are treated to a series of advertisements just like TV… nifty. Capitalism is insidious for many reasons and this is just one small example. It surrounds us. It defines, or attempts to define our reality. It tells us what to think about. It creates desires and “needs”.
I wonder if humanity will die in the excess and filth created by global capitalism? Is it possible that we might still evolve beyond capitalism into a system which is rational and respectful?
